Woman charged with robbery and shoplifting offences in Llanelli

Four incidents reported at Asda, Home Bargains and Tesco Extra

A LLANELLI woman has been charged with two counts of robbery and two counts of shoplifting following a series of incidents at local supermarkets.

Kara Racuoco, 41, of Llanelli, has been charged and remanded into custody as Dyfed-Powys Police investigate four separate offences reported across the town.

The first incident was reported at Asda on Murray Street on Tuesday, April 7, where it was alleged that two bottles of wine were taken. It was further reported that a shop assistant was threatened during the incident.

A second offence was reported on Tuesday, May 5, at Home Bargains on Station Road, where a bottle of wine was allegedly taken without any attempt to pay.

Two further incidents were then reported on May 16 and May 17.

On Saturday, May 16, police received a report from Asda that two joints of beef had been stolen, with threatening behaviour again alleged during the incident.

The following day, Sunday, May 17, a shoplifting offence was reported at Tesco Extra, Parc Trostre, where approximately £95 worth of meat was alleged to have been taken.

Racuoco appeared before Llanelli Magistrates’ Court on Monday, May 18, where she denied the charges.

She has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Swansea Crown Court for a pre-trial plea hearing on Friday, June 19.
