Motorist stopped by police after officers smelt cannabis in her house

When police had occasion to interview a 27-year-old Manorbier woman at her home address, they couldn’t help noticing a strong smell of cannabis emanating from her rooms.

As a result, when police officers observed Fiona McBride driving her Vauxhall Vectra along Essex Road in Pembroke Dock a few days later, they decided to pull her over and carry out a roadside drugs wipe.

As they expected, the drugs wipe proved positive.

Fiona McBride, of Gray Avenue, Manorbier, was taken to a police custody suite for further blood tests to be carried out and these showed that she had been driving with 3.2mcg of Delta-9 in her system. The legal limit is 2.

After pleading guilty to the offence before Haverfordwest magistrates, the mother-of-two was disqualified from driving for 12 months. She was ordered to pay a £120 fine, £85 costs and a £48 surcharge.
