A celebration of creativity and innovation at UWTSD’s

UNIVERSITY of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) are set to present their final projects at the University’s much-anticipated annual Summer Showcase, with exhibitions taking place across Swansea, Carmarthen, Cardiff, London from May to July.

The exhibitions highlight the outstanding talent from a wide range of creative disciplines including Fine Art, Graphic Design, Acting, Adventure Filmmaking, Automotive Design, and more. Swansea’s Dynevor Building and Alex Design in the city centre will host a major part of the showcase, alongside performances at Yr Egin in Carmarthen and events in prestigious London venues.

A cornerstone of the University calendar, this year’s showcase will also celebrate the rich diversity of work of students from the University’s Wales Academy of Voice and Dramatic Arts (WAVDA), offering all those involved a dynamic platform for emerging talent to engage with industry professionals and the public alike.

Dr Mark Cocks, Dean of UWTSD’s Wales Institute for Science and Art said: “The Summer Degree exhibitions celebrate the inspirational creative talents of our students.

“The innovation and diversity of the student work is testament to their dedication and creative application of their personal practice. These shows are the culmination of academic study, but also the beginning of professional creative journeys.

“We invite everyone to come and celebrate the next generation of creative leaders.”

The exhibitions not only showcase extraordinary innovation but also underscore the vital role that creative arts education plays in society. The creative industries are a powerhouse of the UK economy, contributing over £100 billion annually and growing at twice the rate of the overall economy.

Institutions like UWTSD’s Swansea College of Art, the oldest art college in Wales, have long been at the forefront of this dynamic sector, producing graduates who become globally recognised artists, designers, animators, and filmmakers.

Caroline Thraves, Academic Director (Art and Media) at UWTSD’s Swansea College of Art, said: “Hosting the Summer Shows is a vital part of our mission at UWTSD.

“It gives our students a professional platform to share their creativity with the world, celebrates their hard work, and connects them with the industries they are about to enter.

“These exhibitions are a proud showcase of emerging talent and a testament to the transformative power of creative education.”

Lynne Seymour, Academic Director: Design and Performing Industries, said: “This final year showcase is more than a celebration — it’s a powerful statement about the future of the arts and the creative industries.

“Our students are not just performers, creators, artists, and filmmakers; they are collaborators, innovators, and visionaries who understand that creativity thrives through connection.

“In an increasingly interconnected world, investing in arts education means investing in a future where collaboration drives culture, industry, and positive change. I can’t wait for audiences to see their inspirational work.”
