BUSINESS people are among those being invited to an evening drop-in session to hear updates on the Mumbles sea defences project.
The scheme’s latest monthly public drop-in is being held later in the day than normal to accommodate those who normally work office hours.
Everybody is welcome to attend the session from 6-8pm on Thursday, July 25, at Victoria Hall, Dunns Lane.
The multi-million pound sea defences project, being driven by Swansea Council and largely funded by the Welsh Government, is designed to protect Mumbles’ seafront community for generations to come.
It’s due to be completed by main contractor Knights Brown next year.

Andrew Stevens, the council’s cabinet member for environment and infrastructure, said: “We value the involvement of businesses, families and individuals at our regular drop-ins – their ideas and feedback are important to us as we continue to make significant progress on the scheme.
“We want to ensure that everybody has a chance to ask questions and make their own views known so, on this occasion, it’d be great to hear direct from those who can’t normally attend our daytime drop-ins.
“I encourage all those with thoughts about the scheme or points to raise to come along.
“In the meantime, I thank the people of Mumbles – and visitors – for bearing with us whilst we complete the works that will protect Mumbles and its seafront businesses for generations to come.
“They can be assured that the associated works to the prom will improve Mumbles as a visitor destination and place to live and conduct business.”
The council continues to promote the scheme – and the fact that Mumbles and its businesses remain open – through its #ImprovingMumbles social media campaign.
It continues to discuss other Mumbles-related matters with a range of organisations, including Wales and West Utilities who have been improving old gas mains along Mumbles Road.
Changes to parking along the seafront have included new roadside spaces being created in Southend. Hundreds of other parking spaces remain in the Mumbles seafront area.
The council’s tourism team, in partnership with local businesses and organisations, continues to promote Swansea Bay, including Mumbles, as a year-round destination and continues to run the Swansea Bay Land Rider during the warmer months.
