SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is backing a scheme offering free football and cricket sessions for children this Summer.
Mr Rowlands, a keen supporter of encouraging young people to keep active and enjoy sport, is supporting Summer holiday sports sessions in Gwersyllt.
He said: “I am a great believer in encouraging children to take part in sport and it is great to see different organisations working together to give them the opportunity to play football and cricket for free.
“It is really important that during the long Summer school holidays our youngsters have plenty to keep them occupied and these sessions are definitely something worth considering.
“You never know you just might be playing with a future football and cricket international and having fun at the same time.”

During the Summer holidays Active Wrexham and Cricket Wales are working in partnership with North Wales Police and working with local PCSO’s carrying out football and cricket sessions in Gwersyllt.
The football sessions will take place every Wednesday afternoon between 4pm-5pm followed by the cricket sessions between 5pm -6pm on Gwersyllt MUGA (behind Gwersyllt Cricket clubhouse) which is concrete so trainers are required.
Sessions will be a turn up and play and will be free with no cost involved for children between the ages of 9-14 (school years 5-9).
The aim of the sessions, which started on July 24 and will run until August 28, is to give young people the chance to engage in positive behaviour within a community setting.
