New restaurant proposal in Denbigh promises free meals for homeless

Denbighshire County Council

A PLAN has been submitted to convert a former showroom into a restaurant and takeaway.

Athar Khan has applied to Denbighshire County Council, seeking planning permission to convert the redundant Dyffryn Trading Estate Showroom on Rhyl Road, Denbigh.

According to the application, the restaurant, which will not be licensed, would create four jobs.

The proposed restaurant is promising to give a minimum of five free meals a day to the poor and homeless as part of a “contributions to the community” scheme.

Opening hours would be 2pm to 10pm daily to “keep noise and disturbance to a minimum”.

The applicant also says CCTV and signs will be deployed at the front of the shop.

Neighbours are yet to be consulted.

The planning application will likely be discussed at a future planning committee meeting at Ruthin’s County Hall HQ.
