Eighteen South Wales lock up garages for auction at just £1 the lot

THE OWNERS of a string of 18 lock up garages in South Wales that they bought ‘on a whim’ at auction just before Christmas have put them back up for sale.

In fact, the owners are so keen to sell the lot they have re-listed the entire bundle with an auction reserve of just £1 (One).

Seasoned property professional Sean Roper, who sold the garages and is handling the sale for Newport-based Paul Fosh Auctions again this time, explains.

“The buyers of these 18 garages and storage units, which are in Beech Grove, Gurnos, Merthyr Tydfil, aren’t local. They bought the lot on impulse and have now had second thoughts on their purchase.”

Sean continues: “The story is the new owners bought the Gurnos garages on a whim in our Christmas sale without considering the distance from where they lived in terms of managing the property.

“They have been priced at auction, at just £1, to create a bit of excitement and interest. The owners are happy to let the auction run to see where it goes. The lot can’t be sold prior to the auction.”

Sean said: “There was some fly tipping on site last month but the yard is now cleared and secured. There are a few of the garages that have stuff in them that the buyer would need to clear themselves.”

Sean is convinced that the garages are a great investment.

He continued: “With secure gated access these units are ideal for individuals or businesses in need of additional space. Their flexible design allows for multiple uses, such as car storage, a workshop, or a dedicated space for hobbies.”

The A465 is accessible via the Rocky Road giving direct access to the head of the valleys and A470.

Merthyr town centre is approximately a 15-minute walk away with a selection of amenities, Cyfarthfa Retail Park and Trago Mills, all within a short commute.

Potential annual income with all the units fully let could be £21,600 (£100 per garage per month)

The Merthyr garages along with some ninety other individual lots are being sold at Paul Fosh Auctions in its online sale which starts at 12 noon on Tuesday, April 15 and ends from 5pm on Thursday, April 17.
