New cafe set to replace empty Rhyl charity shop

A FORMER Rhyl charity shop could soon be reopened as a café, selling coffee and homemade cakes – if planning permission is granted.

Magdalena Maciorowska has applied to Denbighshire County Council’s planning department for a change of use of the now empty Prestatyn & District Animal Welfare Group charity shop at 75 Rhyl Coast Road.

Mrs Maciorowska wants to reopen the shop as a café and sandwich shop, baking custom-made cakes.

According to the planning application, internal refurbishment is needed to allow for food and drink production, as well as cleaning and dishwashing.

The new shop called –  ‘Mag’s Delightful Bites, Coffee, Sandwiches, and Homemade Cakes’ – will be staffed by one full-time member of staff, creating another part-time position.

If planning permission is granted, the shop will open 7.30am-5pm Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm Saturdays, and 10am-3pm Sundays.

Neighbours are yet to be consulted.

The planning application will likely be discussed at a future Denbighshire planning committee meeting at the council’s Ruthin County Hall HQ or by the delegated authority of planning officers.
