PLANS to turn a Bridgend hotel in to a care home have been handed in to the local authority.
The plans were given to the council in April with a request for a change of use at the Parc Lodge guest house on Bryntirion Hill, Bridgend.
If approved they could eventually see the site, located just outside of Bridgend town centre, turned in to a nine-bedroom care home for adults with complex needs.
The proposals have been handed in by the Accomplish Group who are are a specialist provider of support for people with mental health needs, autism, learning disabilities, and acquired brain injuries.
They read: “Accomplish Group seeks planning permission for a change of use to operate a specialist residential care home supporting adults with mental health needs.
“This new residential service will align with Accomplish Group’s 30-plus years of expertise in delivering high-quality, community-based support across England and Wales.
“Our operational model focuses on enabling individuals to live fun, meaningful, and independent lives within a safe and nurturing environment.”
If given the go-ahead the facility would provide 24-hour care for residents, with five daytime members of staff and three “awake night staff” on duty.
The plans show that the site would contain nine en suite bedrooms along with a staff room, shared lounge, kitchen, and dinning room.
There will also be a laundry room on the site with parking space for four cars located at the front of the property.
The application adds that Accomplish are committed to being a good neighbour and would aim to integrate “seamlessly” in to the local community.
They say they would do this by making sure staff are trained in behavioural management to handle challenges as well as minimising any disruptions with staggered staff changes and using travel training and public transport to reduce reliance on vehicles.
The plans will now go before the council’s planning department for a decision.
