Crime scene investigators arrived at the site later this morning, and a joint investigation into the cause of the blaze is now underway.

The hotel, which overlooks Rhossili Bay and Worm’s Head, is one of Wales’ most photographed and best-loved coastal landmarks. Its loss will be deeply felt by locals and visitors alike.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service has been approached for an official statement.

The Herald understands that multiple fire appliances were in attendance, and operations continued into the early morning hours.

A local resident said: “It’s absolutely heartbreaking. The hotel is part of the fabric of Rhossili. I just hope nobody was hurt.”

South Wales Police have cordoned off the area, and forensic teams are working alongside fire investigators to establish the cause of the blaze. It is not yet known whether the fire is being treated as suspicious.

More updates will follow as the investigation continues.
