THE FAMILY of Virginia Giuffre has spoken out for the first time following the arrest of former Prince Andrew over his links to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.
Andrew, who was arrested on his 66th birthday on suspicion of misconduct while in public office, was released from police custody just hours later and has not been charged. The arrest came in the wake of newly released documents relating to Epstein’s activities.
In a statement, Giuffre’s siblings expressed gratitude to British police for pursuing the case despite Andrew’s royal status.
“At last, today, our broken hearts have been lifted at the news that no one is above the law, not even royalty,” the statement read. “On behalf of our sister, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, we extend our gratitude to the U.K.’s Thames Valley Police for their investigation and the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. He was never a prince. For survivors everywhere, Virginia did this for you.”
Shortly after Andrew’s release, Giuffre’s sisters, Sky and Amanda, spoke to CNN.
Amanda said: “One of the things Virginia stated so clearly is that he thought it was his entitlement. He had been protected and shielded by his royalty and position for so long. I don’t believe he ever imagined this day would come—that he would actually be arrested.”
She added: “When I see him in that position, sweating—which we know at one time he apparently could not do—he’s sweating now … I think he’s sweating now.”
Virginia Giuffre claimed she was trafficked for Prince Andrew as a teen
Giuffre, who died by suicide in April 2025, alleged that she was trafficked to former Prince Andrew as a teenager. The former royal has consistently denied her claims.
During a widely criticised 2019 interview with BBC’s Newsnight, Andrew stated he did not recall ever meeting Giuffre and questioned a widely circulated photograph of the two together, saying: “Nobody can prove whether or not that photograph has been doctored. But I don’t recall that photograph ever being taken.”
Giuffre was among the most prominent accusers of Jeffrey Epstein, who faced allegations of sex trafficking minors before dying by suicide in jail prior to trial.
Epstein’s former associate and girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, was convicted in 2021 of recruiting and trafficking underage girls for sexual abuse and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
In her posthumously released memoir, Nobody’s Girl, Giuffre described her experiences with the former prince, stating that she had three sexual encounters with him.
