Bearhug steps up as official partner for Prostate Cymru’s Walk of Wales

BEARHUG, the premium bamboo sports recovery brand, has become the Official Support Partner for Prostate Cymru’s Walk of Wales 2026.

Taking place on June 27, a team of nine will undertake an unprecedented 1,000+ mile challenge across 44 days, traversing the demanding Coastal Path and Offa’s Dyke to complete the full circumference of Wales, starting and finishing in Cardiff.

By backing this vital initiative, Bearhug is providing essential support in raising a target of £300,000 to fund six Specialist Cancer Nurses, one for each health board in Wales.

As walkers prepare to tackle this challenge, Bearhug has recognised that looking after participants’ bodies is just as important as the miles they put in. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to supporting health and wellbeing that sits at the heart of both organisations.

Bearhug’s unique Bamboo Charcoal infused supports are specifically designed to increase blood flow and speed up recovery. The specialist Orthopaedic Grade 1 medical technology helps reduce muscle fatigue during long, challenging treks while providing the targeted support that muscles and joints require when taking on the brunt of the Welsh trails.

“We’re proud to partner with Prostate Cymru for the Walk of Wales,” said Rhys George, CEO of Bearhug. “Supporting health and wellbeing is at the heart of what we do, and this partnership feels like a natural fit for Bearhug. We’re excited to back an initiative that brings the Welsh community together for such an important cause.”

The Walk of Wales isn’t limited to the nine core team members. Nine designated public walks are scheduled throughout summer 2026, giving supporters across Wales the opportunity to join the movement and contribute to the fundraising goal. Participants can sign up for individual walks at £50 per walk.

The initiative benefits from prestigious support within the sporting community. Prostate Cymru Ambassadors, including former rugby internationals Alex Cuthbert, Rhys Priestland, and Lyn Jones, are amplifying the campaign’s message and encouraging men across Wales to prioritise their health and wellbeing.

Andy Thomas, Chairman of Prostate Cymru and a frontrunner of the challenge, said: “With each step, we want to raise awareness, inspire men to get tested, and fund vital support for families affected by this disease. The aim is to fund six Specialist Cancer Nurses so we can improve patient outcomes and enhance the quality of life for men and their families across the nation.”

Complementing the physical challenge, the Walk of Wales delivers a parallel programme of education and proactive health engagement. Awareness talks, accessible PSA testing, pop-up health clinics, and community sessions will be hosted at key locations along the route, turning the 44-day journey into a nationwide call to action for men’s health.
