RESIDENTS can now buy locally produced compost at Household Recycling Centres in Lower Cwmtwrch, Brecon, Llandrindod Wells and Newtown.
Made from garden waste collected from households and recycling centres across mid-Wales, the organic, peat-free compost is processed at a specialist facility in Carmarthenshire. Rich in natural nutrients, it helps improve soil quality, support healthy plant growth and enhance garden health.
The compost is available to buy at the Lower Cwmtwrch, Brecon, Llandrindod Wells and Newtown Household Recycling Centres for £3.50 per 40-litre bag. Visitors are reminded to book a slot in advance to help sites continue to operate safely and efficiently.
Cllr Richard Church, Cabinet Member for Legal and Regulatory Services, said: “It’s great to see garden waste collected in Powys being turned into something practical and beneficial for residents.
“By recycling garden waste in this way, we are supporting a more sustainable, circular approach that reduces waste and creates a useful product for local gardens and green spaces.
“If you’d like to buy some compost, please book your visit to one of the participating Household Recycling Centres in the normal way, and help support a greener Powys while giving your garden a natural boost.”
