A 100-YEAR-OLD man from Colwyn Bay was able to enjoy hearing his loved ones again in time for his milestone birthday after local audiologists replaced his old hearing device free of charge.
Frederick Davies, who lives at Rhoslan Care Home and has been a customer of Specsavers Colwyn Bay for 11 years, visited the store just days before turning 100 after his hearing device stopped working.
He told the Specsavers team, which included hearing aid dispenser James Rodgers, he was worried he wouldn’t be able to follow conversations or fully enjoy celebrating with family and friends without his hearing device.
Moved by his concerns, the team provided him with a replacement device, worth £1,900, free of charge.
Mr Davies said: “I was so worried I might struggle to hear everything properly on my birthday and miss out on such precious time with my loved ones.
“I’m very grateful to both Specsavers and the team at Rhoslan Care Home for helping me. It meant a great deal to hear my family and fully be part of the celebrations.’
“Filipe Dias, audiology director at Specsavers Colwyn Bay adds: ‘Mr Davies has been coming to us for many years, so when we heard his hearing device had stopped working before such an important milestone, we wanted to help.
“Being able to hear the voices of the people you love makes moments like these even more special and we’re delighted we could help him enjoy his birthday to the fullest.”
