Milford Haven: Police investigating burglaries targeting the vulnerable

POLICE are investigating a burglary and attempted burglary in Milford Haven.

A concerned resident contacted The Herald after what he described as a ‘spate of break-ins’ in Marble Hall Close, Milford Haven.

The close is a wardened neighbourhood which houses mostly elderly or disabled residents.

One resident told us how he interrupted a burglar in his home in the early hours of Thursday (Nov 13).

The gentleman, who wishes not to be named, told how he was awoken at approximately 1.15am where he found the culprit sat on his window sill after gaining entry through his window.

He said: “He forced the top window open and put his hand in and opened the big window.”

He told us how the assailant knocked off items that were holding the curtains in place which startled him and he went to investigate.

When he went into the front room the burglar was sat on his window sill with his legs dangling outside the property.

The gentleman told us he shouted at the burglar: “What the hell do you think you’re doing!”

He added: “He walked off, he didn’t even attempt to run.”

The gentleman described the burglar as very thin, around 6ft tall and wearing a quilted jacket with a hood up.

Whilst police were taking details from the gentleman a message came through on the officers radio informing them of a burglary in the property on the opposite side of the close.

He told us how the burglar made off with watches and cigarettes from his neighbour’s property, the victim is apparently an amputee in a wheelchair.

He added: “How low do you have to be to steal from someone with no legs.”

The resident told us how the close is a ‘burglars paradise’ with darkened pathways running behind some of the properties and no street lights after 12.30am.

The Herald contacted Dyfed-Powys Police for a statement, a spokesperson said: “Police are investigating a burglary and attempted burglary on a street in Milford Haven.
