Here’s the thing: the Welsh Government doesn’t control immigration — Westminster does. So why is Reform UK standing in Caerphilly, waving placards and stirring fear about things they literally can’t change? It’s a distraction, plain and simple. Meanwhile, our hospitals are stretched, schools are struggling, and communities are crying out for investment. That’s the real story.
Reform UK has also taken aim at Wales’ “Nation of Sanctuary” initiative, which offers support to refugees — including Ukrainians living in Caerphilly who, right now, are scared and unsettled. Instead of helping, some of these campaign tactics make them feel unwelcome, as if they shouldn’t be here at all. That’s not leadership; that’s fear-mongering.
Plaid Cymru, on the other hand, focuses on what actually matters: fair funding, stronger communities, and a Wales that works for everyone — new arrivals and long-standing residents alike. Voting Plaid isn’t about ideology; it’s about solutions. Voting Reform UK? That’s about headlines and division.
So Caerphilly, when you mark your ballot, think about who’s really fighting for your schools, hospitals, and neighbours — and who’s just shouting about boats. Wales deserves hope, not hysteria.
