In December, most people let loose and drink more than their fair share of alcohol. When January rolls around, it’s not uncommon for people to feel as though they need a cleanse from the copious amounts of food and drink. This is where Dry January comes in.

However, for some people, it can be tricky to find ways to stay entertained without the use of alcohol. So, if you’re attempting to complete Dry January but aren’t sure how to get through it, then here are just a handful of activities you can do without feeling like you’re missing out on drinking.

Cinema trips

Going to the cinema can turn a simple film into an enjoyable day out. Whether you prefer edge of your seat action, the rollercoaster of emotions from a rom-com, or laughing so hard you fall out of your chair, there is something for everyone at the cinema. Plus, it’s ideal whether you want to go solo, take a friend or family member, or even enjoy a first date.

Bingo

No list would be complete without one of Wales’ favourite pastimes – bingo. Not only is it an enjoyable alcohol-free activity, but it also offers a great opportunity to connect with the local community. Maintaining social connections is especially important for anyone finding Dry January challenging, as spending time with others can provide a welcome distraction and boost your mood. This makes bingo an ideal way to take your mind off things.

If you don’t like the idea of playing bingo in person, there are plenty of bingo games online that can help keep you busy instead! So, you can still have fun whilst in the comfort of your own home.

Have a board game night

Board games are another great way to stay entertained without the need for alcohol. From Scrabble to Cluedo, there are plenty of options out there no matter what you’re into. You could invite some friends over and even consider making mocktails so you don’t feel like you’re missing out on anything!

Exercise

Exercise is another great way to get through the month alcohol-free and beat the January blues. Not only is exercise fun and rewarding, but it also helps keep both your mind and your body fit and healthy.
