Coming this December at Theatr Mwldan!

THIS CHRISTMAS, the magic begins at Mwldan. André Rieu will add some sparkle from December 6 with a screening of his 2025 Concert – Merry Christmas. Experience joyful carols, beautiful waltzes, and plenty of surprises – it’s the ultimate Christmas cinema event!

With his fabulous Johann Strauss Orchestra, and special guests including the sensational Emma Kok and over 400 brass players bringing the majestic sound of Christmas, André’s concert is bursting with warmth, laughter, and holiday cheer.

Christmas is André’s favourite time of year – and he can’t wait to share this spectacular concert with you.

It we be screened on December 6, December 7, December 13 and December 14 (all at 2:00pm).

Then on December 10 (7.15pm) and 14 (2.00pm), give yourself another dose of festive glitter with the Royal Ballet’s beautiful production of The Nutcracker.

The magician Herr Drosselmeyer needs to save his nephew. Hans-Peter has been transformed into a Nutcracker; the only way to save him is for the Nutcracker to defeat the Mouse King and find a girl to love and care for him. A flicker of hope comes in the form of the young Clara, whom Drosselmeyer meets at a Christmas party. With some magic, a cosy Christmas gathering turns into a marvellous adventure.

Peter Wright’s The Nutcracker has enchanted audiences since its 1984 premiere by the Company. Featuring Tchaikovsky’s most familiar melodies and brought to life by Julia Trevelyan Oman’s exquisite designs, The Nutcracker is sure to be a festive firecracker for all ages.

A review from Broadway World said: “The world can often seem so grey at the moment, so any opportunity to step into the light is most welcome. There can be few festive shows that ignite such a sense of wonder and delight as the Royal Ballet’s The Nutcracker,”

And finally, Theatr Mwldan Film Society’s next screening will be Kelly Reichardt’s subtly gripping film The Mastermind starring Josh O’Connor, screening on the December 14 (6.30pm).

The Mastermind is a crime story set in a 1970 Massachusetts suburb, focusing on JB Mooney (Josh O’Connor), an unemployed carpenter who plans an art heist that goes wrong. The film is described as a “quiet study of one man’s decisions and their unforeseen outcomes” and an “aftermath film” that places the heist early in the narrative, exploring its consequences. The story draws inspiration from real art heists of the era.

Yasmin Omar, Curzon said about The Mastermind: “Rejecting genre convention, the would-be thriller rushes through the theft, then lingers on its consequences. It’s a satisfying, character-driven choice.”

Tickets for each of André Rieu’s 2025 Christmas Concert: Merry Christmas and The Nutcracker are priced at £18 and tickets for Mastermind are priced at £8.40.

All tickets are available now from Mwldan’s website or by phoning their box office between 12 and 8pm, between Tuesday and Sunday on 01239 621 200.
