AN EXTRA train service has been secured for the Heart of Wales Line following negotiations between the Welsh Liberal Democrats and the Welsh Government.
Welsh Liberal Democrat Leader Jane Dodds said the announcement is a overdue boost for rural communities who depend on the route for work, education and access to essential services.
Dodds said: “Transport in rural Wales is shocking under the Welsh Labour Government, and so I am glad we were able to secure this extra service as part of the Budget deal.
“It will help unlock opportunity for people who rely on the Heart of Wales line to reach work, education and essential services.
“This is a practical step that shows what can be achieved when we actually listen to rural communities and fight for the investment they deserve.”
The investment was secured earlier this year as part of the Budget agreement with the Welsh Government.
