Powys installer shortlisted for major national award

CHAS BARRY of Smart Heat Plumbing and Heating in Montgomery, Powys has been shortlisted for Best Renewables Installer at the Heating Installer Awards 2026.

As one of only six renewables installers to be shortlisted out of thousands across the UK, Chas now enters the final stages of the competition, where he’s in with the chance of being crowned the overall national winner.

To achieve the shortlist, Chas entered a project he’d completed for a returning client in the local area who needed a full plumbing, heating, and fire sprinkler installation for their new family home, a new-build bungalow.

After a full assessment of the home, Chas fitted a heat pump and underfloor heating, which was connected to solar panels and a battery storage system installed by the electrician, delivering a system that will use minimal energy and therefore keep bills low.

Chas explains: “This was one of the most enjoyable projects I’ve worked on as the client gave me full trust and freedom to specify and install the solution I felt best met their needs and requirements.

“It was also a great opportunity to showcase what we’re capable of and to provide future customers with real proof of how efficient and effective heat pumps can be when they’re properly designed and installed.”

Established over 11 years ago to raise the credibility and celebrate the achievements of the best installers across the UK, the nationwide awards scheme champions heating installers who deliver exemplary work for homeowners month in, month out.

Representatives from the awards’ partners and sponsors DanfossPowered NowSamsung Climate SolutionsStelrad, the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating EngineeringInstallerSHOW and Refresh, as well as a team of previous winning installers, judged the entries on problem solving, product knowledge and stand out work.

You can help Chas to be crowned the Best Renewables Installer by visiting the Heating Installer Awards website and casting your vote.

Voting closes at midnight on May 28, 2026. Public votes will contribute to a fifth of the installer’s overall scores and will be added to scores gained from the judges and from a technical challenge set for all of the regional and highly commended winners.

The winners will be announced on June 24, 2026 at InstallerSHOW, taking place at Birmingham NEC.
