TODAY hundreds of people from across Wales — including campaigners from Pembrokeshire — are heading to Aberystwyth to join a powerful protest demanding justice for Gaza and the Palestinian people.
The centrepiece of the demonstration will be the formation of a 500-metre-long ‘Red Line’ — a striking banner held through the streets of the town, symbolising a collective refusal to stay silent over what organisers describe as genocide in Gaza.
📍 Start location and time
- Protest begins: 2:00pm
- Assembly point: SY23 2HS (Maes Gwenfrewi / Old Bowling Green)
- Organisers recommend arriving from 1:30pm to get into position.
🗺️ Route through the town
The protest line will weave from the Old Bowling Green in the east of the town through to the Aberystwyth Bandstand on the seafront, passing key locations such as the Clocktower and Owain Glyndŵr Square.
Three key points on the map:
- Start: SY23 2HS (Old Bowling Green)
- Finish: The Bandstand
- Accessible pick-up points: Clocktower and Owain Glyndŵr Square
Marchers will walk past food shops, water stations, and benches, with public toilets marked along the route.

🧍♀️ Who’s taking part
More than 60 Welsh organisations — from trade unions and peace groups to faith communities and environmental networks — are backing the protest. Delegations are expected from towns including Haverfordwest, Narberth, and Fishguard.
The event is part of a wider movement that has seen the Red Line unfurled at the White House, Westminster, and the Senedd.
🔴 Why the ‘Red Line’?
Organisers say the line represents a clear moral boundary — one they say has been repeatedly crossed by the Israeli government through civilian bombings, hospital destruction, and the starvation of Gaza’s population.
Hannah Mann, from Aberystwyth Palestine Solidarity Campaign, said: “If our leaders won’t draw the line, then we will become it. The Red Line is our message of defiance and hope.”
👕 What to bring and wear
- Wear red to visually support the theme
- Bring water, sun protection, or rainwear depending on the weather
- Look out for stalls, samba bands, speeches, and peaceful protest activities along the route
⚠️ Additional info
- The map shows public toilets (green dots), food/water outlets (orange circles), and benches (blue squares) for those needing breaks or support during the event.
- Accessibility is supported with designated pick-up points for those needing assistance.
Expect road disruption in central Aberystwyth. The demonstration is due to finish at the Bandstand but participants are encouraged to stay for speeches and musical performances.
