GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS (GWR), the global authority on record-breaking achievements, has confirmed that Bedford resident and multiple world record holder Alex Goulding has set a new Guinness World Records title for the most plyometric push-ups in one minute. Goulding achieved 19 repetitions during an official attempt at Robinsons Pool & Fitness in Bedford, surpassing the previous record of 11.
The result continues Alex’s recent run of record-breaking success. In December 2025, he reclaimed the title for the most push-up to planks in one minute, setting a new benchmark of 84 repetitions.
Reflecting on that December comeback, Alex said: “After my previous record was broken, I had to sit down and figure out how to squeeze in at least eight more within the one-minute window.
“It took months of experimenting with technique and multiple failed attempts in training to nail it.”
His attempt for the most plyometric push-ups in one minute was verified on site by an official Guinness World Records adjudicator, who confirmed the title at midday yesterday (January 19).
Emma Salt, Guinness World Records Adjudicator, said: “Alex delivered a confident performance today, demonstrating both strength and control throughout the attempt.
“To see him secure the title on Blue Monday while using the occasion to spotlight mental health support was genuinely uplifting. We’re delighted to award Alex yet another Guinness World Records title.”
Alex credits training and exercise with supporting his mental health, having first turned to the gym in 2019 during a difficult period. He hopes his achievement will encourage more people to open up about wellbeing and seek support when they need it.
Following confirmation of his second title in just over a month, Alex said: “This means so much to me. I’ve put a huge amount of time into this record attempt and Guinness World Records has been incredibly supportive over the last few years.
“Most importantly, today we’ve raised a lot of money for mental health and wellbeing.”
He also expressed gratitude to the local community and partners: “This event could not have happened without the incredible support from the Bedford community and our fundraising partners.”
Blue Monday in January was chosen as the date because the period is often associated with financial pressures, anxieties about the year ahead, and Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Alex partnered with Beds RCC, a Bedfordshire charity supporting individuals with mental health needs, and has been raising funds and awareness around their services throughout his training.
