Sam Rowlands MS supports improve heart health campaign

SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, backs campaign to raise awareness of heart conditions.

During Heart Month, he joined members of the British Heart Foundation Cymru who brought their signature Red Bench to the front of the Senedd in Cardiff.

The bench, along with six others unveiled across Wales, honour the people whose lives have been saved through cardiovascular disease research.

Mr Rowlands said: “It was great to spend time with members of the British Heart Foundation in front of the Senedd as part of Heart Month and hear how lives are being saved through heart disease research.

“I had the privilege of having my photograph taken with their powerful Red Bench, one of seven across Wales, and give my backing to the charity’s campaign. It’s a striking reminder of how vital and urgent this work is.

“I was also pleased to show my support for BHF Cymru’s Wales’ Hearts Need More campaign, which is calling for premature deaths from CVD to be cut by 25% in the next decade.”

Each bench is placed near the communities the survivors come from, allowing people to encounter powerful, locally relevant stories in everyday settings such as parks, high streets, and town centres.

Ahead of the 2026 Senedd elections, BHF Cymru is calling on all political parties to commit to a 25% reduction in reducing premature deaths from cardiovascular disease by 2035, bringing Wales in line with both UK Government and BHF targets.
