PARTS of the M4 were waterlogged near Swansea at around 4:00pm today (Sunday, September 14), with slow-moving traffic as torrential rain swept across Wales.
Flooding has submerged cars in Swansea, forcing police to close one of the city’s busiest routes. Video footage showed vehicles attempting to drive through deep water at the Cwmbwrla roundabout on Carmarthen Road.
South Wales Police confirmed the road was fully closed and “expected to remain closed for some time”, with traffic diverted via Pentregethin Road. The force also reported flooding on Goetre Fawr Road in Killay, which is shut both ways from The Black Boy pub to the roundabout.
South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said its crews were dealing with multiple flooding incidents across the city, including Killay, Cwmbwrla and Manselton. Images from the scene show cars submerged under water and firefighters carrying an inflatable dinghy through the flood.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the whole of Wales, in force from 8:00pm tonight until 6:00pm tomorrow (Monday). Natural Resources Wales currently has three flood warnings in place.
Motorists are being urged to avoid the affected areas and find alternative routes.
