Reform unveils full Senedd candidate slate across Wales

Party targets nationwide breakthrough as it attacks Labour record and fields candidates in every region ahead of 2026 election

REFORM WALES has announced a full list of candidates for the 2026 Senedd election, confirming it will contest seats across every region in the country.

The party says the move marks a significant step towards establishing itself as a national political force, positioning Reform as an alternative to both Labour and Plaid Cymru.

Leader Dan Thomas used the announcement to launch a direct attack on the Welsh Government, claiming: “After a hundred years of failure, Labour are finished in Wales.

“The choice at this election is what comes next — common sense and a fresh start with Reform, or independence by stealth with Plaid Cymru.”

Full national slate

The candidate lists cover all major regions of Wales, with six ranked candidates in most areas under the Senedd’s proportional representation system.

Among the confirmed names are business figures, former public sector workers and local councillors, reflecting what the party describes as a “broad and experienced” slate.

In west Wales, Pembrokeshire is led by Monkton councillor Susan Claire Archibald, while Carmarthenshire’s list is headed by Gareth Beer.

Regional dynamics

The regional list system means that candidate ranking is critical, with those placed higher far more likely to secure seats depending on overall vote share.

Some candidates appear lower down lists in areas outside their home base, a common strategy used by parties to ensure full coverage across Wales.

For example, Scott Thorley, a Pembrokeshire County Council member from Haverfordwest, is listed sixth in the Gower and Swansea West region, making election unlikely but ensuring representation on the ballot.

Building momentum

Reform’s decision to field a full slate follows growing activity by the party in Wales, including local election gains and increased visibility in national debates.

However, the party has yet to publish detailed policy proposals or candidate profiles, with further announcements expected in the coming weeks.

The Herald understands that Reform will focus heavily on issues including public services, economic growth and governance as it seeks to expand its support ahead of polling day.
