Sexual assault case sent to Crown

Accused granted conditional bail

A SEXUAL assault allegation has been sent to the Crown Court following a hearing before magistrates.

Joshua Madden, 35, of Lime Grove Avenue, Carmarthen, appeared before Llanelli Magistrates’ Court charged with sexual assault, contrary to section 3 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

The charge alleges that on May 8, 2024, at an address in Carmarthen, he intentionally touched a woman and that the touching was sexual when she did not consent and he did not reasonably believe that she was consenting.

No indication of a guilty plea was entered at the magistrates’ court.

The case was sent to Swansea Crown Court for trial under Section 51(1) and (2)(b) of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.

Madden was remanded on conditional bail. Bail conditions prohibit him from contacting the complainant directly or indirectly. The conditions were imposed to prevent interference with witnesses or obstruction of justice.

The case was adjourned until March 16 for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
