Young Ceredigion musicians impress in uplifting Aberystwyth concert

A large audience enjoys showcase of county talent alongside acclaimed guest performers

A LARGE audience packed into Aberystwyth Arts Centre on Sunday for a vibrant and uplifting concert hosted by the Ceredigion Music Service.

The event celebrated the achievements of young musicians from across the county, with performances from the Ceredigion Music Service Intermediate Orchestra and Choir forming the centrepiece of the evening.

The programme offered a wide variety of music, ranging from traditional Welsh arrangements to classical works and popular musical theatre favourites.

The concert also shone a spotlight on several of the service’s senior performers, who are set to represent Ceredigion at national level in the coming months. These young musicians will compete at the Urdd Eisteddfod at the end of May and will also perform with national ensembles during the summer break.

Special guest performers added further excitement to the evening, including acclaimed tenor Trystan Llyr Griffiths, pianist David Doidge, and Cardigan-based male voice choir Côr Meibion Ar Ôl 3.

Their appearances brought added depth to the programme, creating memorable moments of collaboration between experienced professionals and the county’s rising musical talent.

Dan Edwards-Phillips, manager of the Ceredigion Music Service, praised the performers for their dedication and progress.

He said: “We are incredibly proud of all the young people who performed. They have grown in confidence and character throughout the rehearsal process and we couldn’t be prouder of what they achieved on stage.”
