ISLE OF ANGLESEY County Council has welcomed a positive report from Care Inspectorate Wales after inspectors visited Foster Wales Anglesey, the Council’s fostering service, in January 2026.
The Inspection found the service provides stable, supportive homes for children and young people aged 0–18, helping them feel safe and supported while in care.
The report highlights how children experience stability in their placements and are supported to build positive relationships with foster carers. Children also have opportunities to express their views about their care and everyday experiences, ensuring their voices help shape decisions that affect them.
At the time of the inspection, Foster Wales Anglesey had 128 foster carers across 71 households supporting 89 children, providing a range of placements including long-term, short-term, respite and connected person fostering.
Inspectors recognised the commitment and skill of both staff and foster carers, noting that the fostering team benefits from staff with a diverse range of professional backgrounds and experiences.

The report also highlights how foster carers are encouraged and supported to help children take part in activities they enjoy or are interested in, supporting their development, confidence and wellbeing.
Foster carers themselves benefit from Trauma Informed training, regular supervision and strong support networks, helping them provide the best possible care for children and young people.
The Council’s Fostering Service also ensures that children’s linguistic needs are met, with Welsh-speaking staff available to support children who wish to communicate and live through the medium of Welsh.
Strong leadership within the service was also recognised, with leaders providing clear direction, oversight and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Anglesey Council’s Director of Social Services, Fôn Roberts, said: “I’m incredibly proud of our Foster Wales – Anglesey team and the dedication they show every day to supporting children and young people across Anglesey.
