Police and Crime Commissioner reaffirms support for Business Crime Reduction Partnerships during Mold visit

ANDY DUNBOBBIN, Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for North Wales, once again voiced his support for a national campaign to protect businesses, employees, and customers from crime during national Business Crime Reduction Partnership Awareness Week, which launched on March 16.

A Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP) is a subscription-based initiative that collaborates with Police and local authorities to prevent crime and disorder. These partnerships focus on reducing offences that affect businesses, while also improving safety within the wider community.

There are over 250 Business Crime Reduction Partnerships (BCRPs) in the UK. They range from small schemes in towns to city-wide operations with several staff and hundreds of members. North Wales is served by the Cheshire and North Wales BCRP which operates in Mold, Flint, Deeside and Holywell.

BCRPs work closely with partners to address high-harm and prolific offending. They use measures such as exclusion notice warning letters, intelligence sharing, and business briefings.

To highlight Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP) activity and reinforce the ongoing commitment to tackling retail and business crime in North Wales, PCC Dunbobbin visited Mold town centre in Flintshire on March 17. During the visit, he met Charlie Mobbs, Business Crime Support Officer for Cheshire and North Wales, as well as local business representatives and neighbourhood policing officers from North Wales Police.

The group reviewed the crime reduction measures currently in place across Mold and explored how the local BCRP supports businesses in other areas of Flintshire. They also reviewed ongoing efforts to deter crime, support local retailers, and strengthen communication between businesses and the police.

PCC Andy Dunbobbin said: “Keeping businesses, staff, and shoppers safe is key to strong communities. Our office proudly supports this campaign and regional efforts to tackle business and retail crime.

“Working with partners like the BCRP helps strengthen local economies and keep our high streets welcoming.”

Business Crime Support Officer Charlie Mobbs said: “Business Crime Reduction Partnerships play a vital role in helping businesses feel supported and protected.

“By working closely with local retailers, police, and partnership agencies, we can share information quickly, identify repeat offenders, and take practical action to reduce crime and antisocial behaviour.

“Strong partnerships make town centres safer for businesses, staff, and the public.”
