A GALA CONCERT, celebrating 40 years of the Great Daffodil Appeal in aid of Marie Curie, the UK’s leading end-of-life charity, is to be held at St Asaph Cathedral on Saturday, April 18, starting at 7pm.
It will feature renowned tenor Rhys Meirion and Côr Meibion Dinbych (Denbigh Male Voice Choir). Also taking part will be Owen Barton Davies, of the Johns’ Boys choir, and sopranos Mared Owen, Helen Rowlands and Elen Barfield. You can look forward to a wonderful mix of songs with something for everyone to enjoy.

The focus of the event is to raise vital funds to support the work of Marie Curie in caring for anyone with a terminal illness and also for their families.
Victoria Hardy, Marie Curie’s Senior Community Fundraiser for Wales, said: “We are so grateful to our sponsors, Pendine Park and Daffodil Foods, for their generous support for this event.

“Choosing to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Marie Curie’s Great Daffodil Appeal through music is not only typical of Wales, but sits perfectly with the charity’s ethos of helping both patients and their families in a wide variety of ways, not only medically but through complementary therapies – including arts – and companionship, as well as assistance with information and practical matters.
“Our mission for the next five years and beyond is to close the gap in vital end of life care, so that no one misses out on what they need in the final years, months, weeks and days of life, or when bereaved.
“We rely heavily on donations to fund this work. The Great Daffodil Appeal is one of our biggest events each year and the generosity shown to it by the public certainly deserves to be celebrated.”
