Sam Rowlands MS backs community awards scheme

SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is calling on his constituents to support the Mold Town Council Community Awards Scheme 2026.

Mr Rowlands, a keen supporter of encouraging people to get involved in their community, is urging people to put names forward for these accolades.

He said: “I am a great supporter of acknowledging the hard work of those individuals or groups who go above and beyond for their community.

“The awards first started in 2020 and I am delighted to see their continued success. It is an excellent way of bringing people together and recognising those who have made an outstanding contribution to the town of Mold.

“I am sure we all know someone, who we feel, deserves to be rewarded and urge everyone to nominate that person or organisation.”

Nominations for the Mold Town Council Community Awards Scheme 2026, which recognises individuals, groups and businesses who have made a positive contribution to life in the town are now open.

Residents are being asked to nominate people or organisations living, working or volunteering in Mold, or those who support Mold residents.

There are five categories covering outstanding voluntary service and/or outstanding achievement within the community of Mold and include Business of the Year, Sporting Achievement Award, and Community Project or Event of the Year. There is also a volunteering award for individuals or groups under the age of 25 and a volunteering award for those aged 25 and over.

There is also the ‘Mayor’s Choice Award’, given to a group or individual who the Mayor considers has made an extraordinary contribution to the Mold community or has provided aspiration to others.

There is no limit on the number of nominations that can be submitted, but each nomination must include a reason, as incomplete entries will not be taken forward by the judging panel.

Nominations can be made online, by email, or using a paper form. For more information contact Mold Town Council on 01352 758532, option 3, or email [email protected].

The closing date for nominations is February 6, 2026.
