SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is calling on people to vote for local winners in the prestigious annual awards.
Mr Rowlands, a keen supporter of buying local produce, is urging his constituents to back finalists in this highly regarded national competition.
He said: “I am delighted to see two businesses from my region already being recognised as finalists in these Countryside Alliance Awards, also known as the Rural Oscars.
“Lesters Farm Shop in Drury, near Buckley, has been named as a finalist in the Rural Enterprise category for Wales and Iscoyd Park, on the North Wales border, in the Rural Enterprise category for the Midlands.

“There are also finalists from other parts of North Wales and they all deserve our warmest congratulations for reaching the final.
“I am delighted to support any initiatives which promote and highlight rural ventures, particularly the Countryside Alliance Awards which celebrate rural businesses that go the extra mile, who support their local economy and are the unsung heroes in every community.
“I have already voted for Lesters and Iscoyd Park and urge everyone else to also show their support but you must be quick as voting closes at midnight on Sunday March 15.”
The Awards help promote rural businesses, giving them a platform to reach a wider audience and highlight the importance of community spirit and the vital roles these businesses play in maintaining the fabric of rural life.
Being nominated in the Countryside Alliance Awards can have a real impact on rural businesses. Most importantly, those businesses which go on to become finalists or champions, will receive regional and national recognition, strengthening the reputation of their brand.
The awards have several categories including Village Shop/Post Office; Local Food/Drink; Butcher; Rural Enterprise; Pub; Game Champion
The competition runs across the whole of the United Kingdom and the awards recognise and reward rural businesses and individuals who go above and beyond in their contributions to the community in five categories.
The Welsh winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at the Senedd in June, and will then go on to represent Wales at the prestigious national Champions’ Reception at the House of Lords in July, where the UK winners in each category will be crowned and presented with the coveted ‘Rural Oscar’.
