SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is backing a scheme offering free football sessions for young people in Holywell.
North Wales Police have teamed up with Holywell Town FC and Gwella to create an exciting opportunity for young people between the ages of 12-16 years to take part in a six week football project.
Mr Rowlands, a keen supporter of encouraging young people to keep active and enjoy sport, said: “As everybody knows I am passionate about encouraging children to take part in sport and outdoor activities and it is great to see organisations working together to give youngsters the opportunity to play football for free.
“I am particularly pleased to see the local football club getting involved as you never know they may be able to spot a superstar in the making and a Harry Kane of the future.
“If you are ages between 12-16 years and interested in taking part in the sessions then it is well worth signing up.”
The sessions will take place at Holywell Leisure Centre on Wednesday evenings, between 8-9.30pm, starting tomorrow (February 18).
Following the final session, a presentation evening will be held at Holywell Football Club where prizes, trophies and food will be provided.
Gwella is a Local Authority Trading Company responsible for managing leisure centres, libraries, sports development, National Exercise Referral Scheme (NERS), heritage services and children’s play areas in Flintshire.
