FLINTSHIRE County Council is proud to announce that Wepre Park, Greenfield Valley, and Bailey Hill have all been awarded the coveted Green Flag Award for 2025—recognising them as some of the very best green spaces in the UK.
This international mark of quality is awarded to parks and green spaces that meet the highest environmental standards, are beautifully maintained, and provide excellent visitor facilities. Gaining Green Flag status is a prestigious honour and receiving it across three of the counties landmark sites is a testament to the dedication, care, and community spirit that sustains these natural treasures.
Cllr Chris Dolphin, Cabinet member for Environment, Regeneration, Countryside and Tourism said: “We are absolutely delighted to have achieved Green Flag status at Wepre Park, Greenfield Valley, and Bailey Hill. This achievement reflects the immense effort and pride taken by everyone involved in maintaining and improving these spaces for the public to enjoy.”
In Wales, the awards scheme is run by Keep Wales Tidy. Lucy Prisk, Green Flag Coordinator for Keep Wales Tidy said: “We’re thrilled to see 315 green spaces in Wales achieving the prestigious Green Flag status, which is testament to the dedication and hard work of hundreds of staff and volunteers.
“Quality green spaces play a vital role in the physical and mental well-being of people across Wales, and to be recognised as among the best in the world is a huge achievement – Congratulations!”
Flintshire County Council extends its deepest thanks to the site teams and the amazing network of volunteers who have contributed countless hours to the upkeep, conservation, and community engagement that make these parks so special.
Thanks to their hard work and commitment, each site has been officially recognised as a leading green space—open, accessible, and sustainable. Especially Friends of Bailey Hill and Mold Town Council, Friends of Wepre Park and our valued park stakeholders, plus Greenfield Valley Trust and it’s supportive volunteers.
Wepre Park continues to be a beacon for biodiversity and family recreation.
Greenfield Valley offers a rich mix of industrial heritage and vibrant wildlife.
Bailey Hill, with its historical significance and scenic charm, remains a peaceful green haven in the heart of Mold.
Let this serve as a moment of pride for the community, and a reminder of what can be achieved when people come together to care for the environment.
