Marie Curie calls on people of Caernarfon to volunteer this summer at their Morrisons store

EVERYONE deserves expert care and support at the end of life and that’s why Marie Curie, the UK’s leading end of life charity, is calling on the residents of Caernarfon to support the Paint It Yellow fundraising activity at Morrisons stores this summer.

The Morrisons Paint It Yellow fundraiser helps to raise much needed funds so that Marie Curie Nurses and healthcare professionals can provide expert care and support in the comfort of home and via its free information and support services.

Almost 1 in 3 people don’t get the end of life care and support they need. By giving up a few hours to collect donations at local Morrisons stores, locals can help the charity continue to help people get the best end of life care possible, whatever the illness, wherever they are.

Collections will be held at Morrisons supermarket in Caernarfon from July 30 – August 2.

A typical two-hour collection shift raises £85 – that’s enough to help fund almost four hours of expert nursing care or five calls to Marie Curie’s Support Line. The free Support Line and webchat is available to anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from and those close to them. It offers practical and emotional support on everything from symptom management and day-to-day care to financial information and bereavement support.

Marie Curie supports people with any illness they are likely to die from including Alzheimer’s (and other forms of dementia), heart, liver, kidney and lung disease, motor neurone disease, Parkinson’s, and advanced cancer.  The charity provides expert care and support in people’s homes, in its hospices and over the phone via its free Information & Support Line.

Nathan Sherratt, Marie Curie Community Fundraiser for North Wales and North Powys said: “We believe everyone deserves expert end of life care and support.

“Getting involved in the Paint It Yellow fundraiser and collecting at your local Morrisons is a brilliant and fun way to give back to our local community here in Caernarfon whilst also helping Marie Curie provide a vital service to those in the final chapter of their lives.

“Volunteering is super simple, and our team will be on hand to support you throughout to make sure you have everything you need and ensure you have the best experience possible.

“By giving just a couple of hours to collect this summer, you will be helping Marie Curie continue to provide expert end of life care and support for people with any illness they are likely to die from, and support for their families.

“If you’re interested, you can contact me on 01745 352910 or via email at [email protected]

People in Caernarfon can show support by getting involved in various Paint it Yellow fundraising activities in their nearest Morrisons store, from golden raffles and tombolas to yellow in-store trails and colleague bike challenges. Morrisons colleagues in the local area will also be taking part in a Paint It Yellow fundraising relay throughout August, passing a baton from store to store in unique and fun ways to raise vital funds for Marie Curie.

David Scott, Corporate Affairs Director at Morrisons said: “We’re proud to be working with our national charity partner, Marie Curie, to bring customers our Paint It Yellow fundraiser again this year.

“Last summer, every Morrisons Community Champion, member of staff and customer made an incredible effort, raising over £1 million for end of life care in just one month!

“This August, our dedicated Community Champions have lots of exciting fundraising activities planned in store and we’d love to see our customers, old and new, get involved.

“With the support of our colleagues and the people of North Wales we’re helping Marie Curie to continue to provide people with expert end of life care and support at home, in the community and in the charity’s hospices, whatever the illness, wherever they are.

“If you’d like to get involved, don’t hesitate to ask your local Community Champion when you’re next in store.”

Marie Curie is Morrisons national charity partner, with a shared ambition to improve end of life care in local communities. Since launching the partnership in November 2024, Morrisons customers and colleagues have raised nearly £7 million for Marie Curie and made a meaningful difference in local communities.

From August 3 to 23, Morrisons customers can pick from hundreds of products in yellow packaging in store and online. For every promotional ‘Every Pack Gives Back’ product sold, the brand will donate a percentage of the sale price to Marie Curie.
