NEUADD DWYFOR, Pwllheli is calling on customers and the local community to vote as they attempt to secure a nomination for the British Independent Film Award’s (BIFA) inaugural Cinema of the Year award.
In July, cinemas across the country were invited to participate by explaining why their cinema is so special. By taking part in the competition, Neuadd Dwyfor wants to highlight and celebrate the hall as a vibrant arts centre, and to highlight the key role it plays within the community of Pwllheli and across the Dwyfor area.
Neuadd Dwyfor works very closely with local businesses and charities to develop a programme of events that support the need locally and ensure that the arts are accessible and relevant to everyone in the local community.
Five Welsh cinemas have passed their names on to BIFA, and only two in Gwynedd namely Neuadd Dwyfor and the Magic Lantern in Tywyn. The voting period for cinema audiences is now open and closes on 22 September. A special panel will select the nominees, taking into account audience votes and presentations by the cinemas.
Five nominees will be announced on 3 November, along with the remaining BIFA Awards 2025 nominees. Following this, there will be a further opportunity for the cinema audience to vote and decide the winner. The winner will be revealed at the BIFA ceremony on Sunday, 30 November.
