North Wales Padre completes Dubai Half Marathon to support army cadets

A MILITARY chaplain from Clwyd and Gwynedd has successfully completed one of the world’s most iconic half marathons — raising funds to support young people back home.

Padre Toby Jones took on the prestigious Burj2Burj Half Marathon in Dubai on Sunday (February 8), running the 21.1km route between two of the city’s most famous landmarks: the Burj Khalifa and the Burj Al Arab.

With entry numbers capped to maintain the event’s exclusive atmosphere, securing a place in the race is a notable achievement. But for Toby, the challenge was about more than personal accomplishment — he ran in support of the Army Cadet Charitable Trust.

The Trust works to ensure that no young person misses out on the opportunities offered by the Army Cadet Force due to financial hardship. Funds raised help provide essential support for cadets across the UK, including in North Wales, contributing towards equipment, camps and activities that build confidence, resilience and valuable life skills.

Speaking after completing the race, Toby said he was proud to represent his community on an international stage while supporting a cause close to his heart.

His efforts not only saw him cross the finish line in Dubai, but also make a meaningful difference to young people closer to home.
