SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, is urging people to support small businesses and shop locally in the run up to Christmas.

Mr Rowlands, a keen supporter of encouraging people to shop local, is backing a national initiative, to get more people to shop small today (December 6).

He said: “For many years I have been a great supporter of Small Business Saturday which inspires more and more people to support local business and buy locally sourced food and other products from their community.

“It really is a fantastic initiative which has continued to be highly successful and extremely important for our local economy.

“I am always happy to support this national initiative which aims to highlight local businesses across the UK and Wales and ultimately encourages more people to shop locally.

It really is a fantastic initiative and I would urge all communities in North Wales to celebrate the day and support their own small businesses in the run up to Christmas and beyond.”

Small Business Saturday UK is a grassroots, non-political, non-commercial campaign, which highlights small business success and encourages consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities.

It celebrates the UK’s much-loved 5.45 million small businesses and encourages the nation to show their support, particularly by spending and shopping small.

Small Business Saturday takes place on the first Saturday in December but is not just a date. It’s a year-round national movement to spotlight the small businesses that make a big difference to our communities and economy.

With the support of American Express, the campaign has reached millions of people, with billions spent with small businesses and is proudly in its thirteenth year in the UK.

From independent retailers to local service providers, the goal is simple. Help small businesses thrive.
