Sam Rowlands MS congratulates North Wales hospice for celebrating 30 years

Sam Rowlands MS for North Wales joins in the 30 years celebrations with Lauren Emberton, CEO, Nightingale House Hospice and Dr Ian Happs

SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, has praised Nightingale House Hospice in Wrexham for all its good work over the past 30 years.

Mr Rowlands, a keen supporter of hospices who often calls for more funding from the Welsh Government for the charities recently visited the Wrexham site.

He said: “I was delighted to have the opportunity to visit Nightingale House Hospice and be shown around by Lauren Emberton, the Chief Executive Officer.

“It was such an honour to see around the place and I was so impressed by the excellent support they offer.

“The staff and volunteers are incredible and as you walk around you can feel the strong sense of dedication in everything they do.

“This year they’re celebrating their 30th Anniversary and I would like to congratulate everyone involved in the charity. They all deserve a huge thank-you from us all.”

Nightingale House Hospice was founded by Dr. John Arthurs in the early 1980s, starting with a day unit in 1985 at Wrexham Maelor Hospital.

This lead to the community-funded build of the standalone hospice which opened in 1995.

More than £3 million was raised by the community to build the facility on Chester Road, Wrexham, with the NHS supporting operational costs.

The hospice provides free, specialist palliative care to adults with life-limiting illnesses across Wrexham, Flintshire, and East Denbighshire.
