SAM ROWLANDS, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Fflint Wrecsam has congratulated the Wrexham branch of Nationwide for receiving national recognition.
Mr Rowlands, Welsh Conservative spokesperson for Finance, recently visited the local office after they were named runner-up in the UK Branch of the Year.
He said: “I was delighted to be invited to the branch and congratulate the team who have helped put this office on the UK map. It was great to see at firsthand how they interact with customers and hear all about their amazing charity work.
“I was pleased to hear that 12,800 Nationwide members in Fflint Wrecsam will each be receiving a £100 through the organisation’s Fairer Share Payment scheme which is the fourth year this has happened for eligible members.
“As we continue to see banks and building societies disappearing from our towns and High Streets it was refreshing to learn that Nationwide has committed to keeping all 29 branches in Wales open until at least 2030.”
During the visit, Branch Manager, Michaela Jones, updated Mr Rowlands on Nationwide’s Branch Promise commitment, the engagement they have with customers in branch, and the wider work they are involved in to support the local community.
She said that Nationwide is a major contributor to the Welsh economy and as a mutual organisation, prioritise customer service over shareholder return, providing a range of banking support and wider initiatives to customers and communities across Wales.
