Tickets now on sale for Lexus Wrexham Open as world-class tennis returns to North Wales

Mimi Xu won last year’s inaugural tournament as organisers expect even bigger crowds in October

TICKETS are now on sale for this year’s Lexus Wrexham Open, with world-class women’s tennis set to return to North Wales this October.

The tournament, the biggest women’s tennis event in the UK this year outside of the grass court season, will take place at Wrexham Tennis & Padel Centre from October 18-25.

The International Tennis Federation World Tennis Tour event was held in Wrexham for the first time last year, with rising Welsh star Mimi Xu, the current British number six, crowned champion.

Tournament promoter Dave Courteen said tickets are now available online through the tournament website.

“It’s always exciting when the tickets go on sale, and they are now available to buy online,” he said.

“Wrexham is just one of 33 cities worldwide to host a W100 tournament, the highest level on the ITF Tour, with the Lexus Wrexham Open recognised as one of the best spectator events on the ITF World Tour circuit.

“It has quickly built an excellent reputation as a great tournament, with courtside stadium seating, music and post-match interviews with the players all adding to the overall experience for tennis fans.”

Ticket prices start from £8 for adults and £4 for under-16s, and include a 44-page tournament programme.

Finals day tickets, which cover both the singles and doubles finals, cost £25 for adults and £19 for under-16s.

A full tournament pass, allowing entry to all matches throughout the week, is also available, priced at £75 for adults and £57 for under-16s.

Dave Courteen said last year’s event attracted strong support, with key days selling out.

“The response for this event from the local community in Wrexham and North Wales, as well as people from much further afield, was fantastic last year,” he said.

“Tickets for finals day and semi-finals day both sold out with crowds of more than 600 enjoying the tennis, while the tournament passes for the week also proved extremely popular and quickly sold out.

“We expect October’s event, particularly after the success of last year, to be even bigger and better, so we recommend that people secure their tickets as soon as possible to watch leading British and international tennis stars.”
