Bridgend Council’s waste services partner launches community fund for local projects

PLAN B Management Solutions, the council’s waste and recycling partner is providing £10,000 in grant funding to community and voluntary organisations across Bridgend County Borough.

Community-led initiatives and organisations including voluntary and community groups, charities, Community Interest Companies with asset locks, Community Benefit Societies, and eligible schools are encouraged to apply for grants from the community fund, which will close applications on Friday, March 20.

Funding is available for projects within an organisation’s charitable objectives, excluding activities such as statutory services, political activity, religious promotion, medical treatment, retrospective costs, or projects outside the county borough.

Eligible organisations must have been operating for at least one year, have signed accounts, and demonstrate clear community benefit within the county borough, with priority given to smaller organisations with an annual income of under £250,000.

Councillor Gary Haines, Cabinet Member for Climate Change and the Environment said: “I am pleased to see our partner play a vital role beyond frontline services and investing directly in local initiatives.

“Local voluntary and community groups are key in supporting and strengthening our communities and I would encourage eligible organisations to consider applying”.

Community investment forms a key part of the partnership’s social value commitment, with, Plan B donating more than 71,000 items to food banks, including over 7,000 items in Bridgend alone during 2024-25.
