Urgent appeal for dog food and bedding as charity stocks run low

Dogs Trust centres in South Wales seek public support to care for animals awaiting homes

AN URGENT appeal has been launched by Dogs Trust for donations of food, treats and bedding to support dogs in its care across South Wales.

The charity, which operates rehoming centres in Bridgend and Cardiff, says supplies are running low as it continues to care for dogs awaiting their forever homes.

Staff say recent wet weather has increased demand for bedding, with items being used up more quickly as they work to keep kennels warm, dry and comfortable heading into the spring months.

The charity is now calling on members of the public to donate essential items, including dog food, treats, toys, dog beds, blankets, towels and long-lasting toys such as rope or hard plastic products.

Donations can be dropped off directly at the rehoming centres, while supporters can also contribute by purchasing items through the charity’s online wish list for delivery straight to the kennels.

Centre manager Kim Davies said the appeal comes at a critical time.

“The recent weather means we are getting through our bedding much faster than usual, and with the changing seasons, we also need more treats to keep our dogs stimulated both mentally and physically,” she said.

“Keeping our dogs warm, dry and entertained is essential for their health and wellbeing, but our supplies are running low. We’re asking the community to help if they can.”

She added that the charity relies heavily on public generosity to continue its work.

Dogs Trust has thanked supporters for their continued backing, stressing that every donation will help ensure dogs remain comfortable and cared for while they wait to be rehomed.
