Cardiff hospitality sector to unite for wellbeing charity walk

Industry professionals invited to take part in annual fundraising event supporting mental health and wellbeing

HOSPITALITY professionals from across Wales will come together in Cardiff this autumn as Hospitality Action’s annual Walk for Wellbeing returns for 2026.

The fundraising event, which supports wellbeing initiatives and vital support services for hospitality workers, will take place throughout October, with Cardiff hosting one of fourteen walks being held across the UK.

The Cardiff event will once again be hosted by The Parkgate Hotel, with participants able to choose between 10km and 20km routes while raising money for Hospitality Action, the industry’s dedicated charity.

This year’s Walk for Wellbeing is being supported by hospitality recruitment partner mum, alongside Caterer.com, HR in Hospitality, Imperial London Hotels and Nespresso.

Damien Martin, General Manager of The Parkgate Hotel, said Cardiff was proud to be hosting the event for a third consecutive year.

“We’re incredibly proud at The Parkgate Hotel Cardiff to be hosting this year’s Hospitality Action Walk for Wellbeing,” he said.

“As an industry, looking after one another has never been more important, and it means a great deal to us to bring people together for such a positive and worthwhile cause here in Cardiff.

“This will be our third year hosting the event and we’re hoping for it to be bigger and better than ever before.”

The walks will begin in Glasgow on October 10, coinciding with World Mental Health Day, before travelling to cities across the UK. Cardiff’s event will take place on Sunday, October 25, alongside walks in Birmingham, Bristol, Bath, Cornwall, Edinburgh, Hampshire, London and Suffolk.

Since launching in London in 2020, Walk for Wellbeing has grown into a major nationwide initiative for the hospitality sector. More than 1,400 people took part last year, raising £170,000 to support Hospitality Action’s wellbeing and assistance programmes.

Organisers say the event aims to encourage reconnection, strengthen workplace wellbeing and promote positive conversations around mental health within an industry that has faced significant challenges in recent years.

Craig Prentice, founder of Walk for Wellbeing, said the event continues to highlight the importance of community within hospitality.

“What started as a simple way to bring people together during a difficult time for hospitality in 2020 has grown into something truly special,” he said.

“The hospitality industry has always been powered by people, and people thrive when they feel connected.

“Walk for Wellbeing brings together individuals, teams and businesses to champion positive conversations around wellbeing and celebrate personal connection and support across the industry.”

Those unable to attend one of the organised city walks can take part in the charity’s ‘Walk It Your Way’ initiative, completing their own route between October 10 and October 25.

Hospitality Action is encouraging everyone working within the sector, as well as supporters from outside the industry, to get involved and help raise funds for workers and families facing difficult circumstances.
