Cardiff Youth Service celebrates Gold Standard in youth work

CARDIFF Youth Service has proudly achieved the Gold Youth Work Quality Mark (YWQM) in Wales – an esteemed national recognition awarded by the Education Workforce Council (EWC).

The YWQM is designed to support and celebrate organisations that deliver high-quality youth work supports and recognises improving standards in the provision, practice, and performance, demonstrating the excellence of their work with young people.

In achieving the gold YWQM, Cardiff Youth Services has demonstrated its strength of partnership working, use of management information, and creative use of resources in meeting the needs of young people. It also recognises and celebrates young people’s achievements, as well as the impact youth work and youth workers have made on their personal journeys.

EWC assessors highlighted the services excellent approach to partnership working and their use of data to ensure services remain responsive, evidence-based, and focused on young people’s needs as particular areas of good practice.

Cardiff Youth Service’s journey to gold involved rigorous self-assessment and a successful external evaluation against nationally recognised standards.

Cllr Peter Bradbury, Cabinet Member for Tackling Poverty and Supporting Young People, said: “This gold award is a testament to the dedication and passion of our youth workers.

“Cardiff Youth Service continues to champion inclusive practice, celebrate diversity, and deliver meaningful opportunities that reflect the real needs of young people.

“The service is built on strong policies and a skilled workforce that puts young people at the heart of decision-making.

“The relationships formed between staff and young people are the foundation of our success and this recognition confirms the positive impact we’re making every day.”
