A NEW pet sitting service has been given the thumbs-up by council planners.
Cardiff Council has approved a new pet sitting service for 28 The Grove in Rumney.
The application, submitted by Lexi Hookham, reads: “I will provide professional pet day care and home boarding services tailored to meet the needs of busy pet owners.”
It continues: “The duration of pet home boarding will vary based on the length of the owner’s absence.
“My responsibilities include walking dogs, feeding, engaging in playtime, offering companionship, and providing ample attention to ensure each pet feels loved and cared for.”
Hours of operation will be dependent on the animals but pet drop-offs will be limited to between 8am and 6pm.
Planning documents read: “I will always be courteous. I will always pick up dog mess and put it in my black bin.”
It continues: “I will keep all dogs on leads at all times when in public places and in communal areas. Dogs will only be allowed on my share of the garden and will never be left unattended, always on leads.
“Pets in my care will also not be left alone for more than an hour so they won’t get stressed out and bark or get distressed.”
No signage, posters, or advertising will be at or near the property nor are any alterations for the existing building is proposed.
Regarding any potential traffic caused by the new business the planning officer’s report reads: “Traffic movements to and from the property are unlikely to exceed those which could reasonably be expected from the dwellinghouse in its current use.”
It continues: “The proposed number of vehicles that are likely to be utilised in relation to the property would not be out of character of that expected of the existing use.”
No full-time or part-time staff beyond the owner of the service will be employed.
