Mark Watson brings new stand-up show to Newport

Taskmaster favourite and Baby Reindeer star to appear at The Riverfront

MULTI-AWARD-WINNING comedian, writer and actor Mark Watson is bringing his brand-new stand-up show to Newport as part of a nationwide tour.

Watson will take to the stage at The Riverfront Theatre and Arts Centre on Friday, February 27, with the show starting at 7.30pm.

Now marking 20 years in stand-up comedy, Watson is best known to audiences as the “cheeky texts” comedian from Taskmaster, a long-standing favourite on BBC Radio 4 and a cult figure on YouTube. More recently, he appeared in the Netflix hit Baby Reindeer. His latest show, Before It Overtakes Us, follows highly successful runs at the Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Edinburgh Comedy Festivals.

The new stand-up set was sparked by a recent encounter with a stranger and sees Watson reflecting on the uncertain future facing humanity. Alongside these big-picture ideas, the show also delves into more immediate and characteristically offbeat concerns, including the worst word he has ever said in public, the current state of the UK sausage industry and a host of other unexpected topics.

Audiences can expect a fast-paced, intelligent and laugh-out-loud evening from one of the UK’s most distinctive comedy voices.
