Voices of Windrush: An evening with Don Letts in Newport

THE RIVERFRONT Theatre and Arts Centre is proud to present An Evening with Don Letts on Thursday, June 25 at 6pm, a special event celebrating the legacy and lived experiences of the Windrush generation through film, conversation and culture.

Legendary filmmaker, DJ and cultural pioneer Don Letts will host an exclusive screening of his previously unreleased documentary In Those Days – a powerful and intimate portrait of the first wave of Afro-Caribbean immigrants who came to the UK to rebuild postwar Britain.

Told entirely in their own words, the film captures memories of home, arrival, resilience and community, offering a vital cinematic testament to the Windrush generation.

Event Schedule
6:00pm – Screening of In Those Days
7:15pm – 8:30pm – Live Q&A with Don Letts, followed by a book signing

Following the screening, audiences will have the rare opportunity to hear directly from Don Letts in a live Q&A, where he will discuss the making of the documentary, his creative process and the cultural significance of the stories captured on screen. A book signing will conclude the evening.

This event forms part of ongoing Windrush celebrations, honouring the profound impact and enduring legacy of the Windrush generation on British society.
