A LARGE police cordon has been put in place in the Caerau area of Cardiff after a car struck several pedestrians in the early hours of this morning (Saturday, September 27).
South Wales Police said they were called just before 12:30am to Heol Trelai following reports that a car had collided with members of the public.
Three people are believed to have been hit by the vehicle. One of the casualties has sustained serious injuries which officers have described as potentially life-changing.
The road has been closed in both directions between Caerau Lane and Church Road while investigations continue. Police officers and forensic teams were seen at the scene this morning, with evidence markers placed across the road.
A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: “To ensure a thorough investigation, a large cordon is in place around the area with the road currently being closed. We appreciate the public’s patience as we work to gather more information and progress with our inquiries.”
Anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area at the time is urged to contact South Wales Police.
