Runners who go the extra mile for charity at this year’s Cardiff Half Marathon are being offered the chance to bag a bumper race-day reward.
WITH JUST UNDER eight months to go until the starting gun fires on Sunday, October 4, organisers are urging participants who have secured charity places to kick-start their fundraising efforts and raise as much as they can for their chosen causes.
As part of the event’s annual Charity Week, which runs from Monday, February 9 to Sunday, February 15, those who manage to raise £200 or more will be automatically entered into a prize draw to win what organisers describe as the ultimate race day experience.

The prize includes a hotel stay for two in Cardiff on the eve of the race, Saturday, October 3, along with two exclusive finish line hospitality passes, giving the runner and a spectator access to refreshments and one of the best views of the finishing straight. The winner will also receive a £30 Wagamama voucher to enjoy a celebratory post-race meal.
To be eligible, fundraising must be carried out via the Enthuse platform. The winner will be drawn at random and announced shortly after Charity Week comes to a close.
Charity Week is a significant milestone in the Cardiff Half Marathon calendar, forming part of the Make Your Mark campaign, which highlights the importance of fundraising for those taking up charity places in the race.
Each year, participants raise in excess of £4 million, providing vital support for essential research, critical frontline services and awareness campaigns that make a tangible difference to a wide range of good causes.
Organisers are also reminding runners that if their circumstances change – whether through injury, illness or other unforeseen reasons – it is important to inform their chosen charity as soon as possible. Places can then be returned and reallocated to another fundraiser, ensuring no opportunity to raise vital funds is lost.
Annabelle Mason, Head of Partnerships at Run 4 Wales, said: “Charity fundraising is a huge part of the Cardiff Half Marathon with over £4 million raised each year.
“Charities rely heavily on donations to ensure they’re able to fund their important work, which is why it’s so important their spaces are used as intended as it can make a real difference.
“We’re excited to help give a boost of extra motivation to kickstart many runners’ fundraising pages with our Charity Week competition and look forward to seeing all of our charities, and their supporters, in October.”
Further information and fundraising tips are available via the Cardiff Half Marathon website, with full competition terms and conditions published on the Enthuse platform.
